Unmentionables Assemble by Kate-Kyrillion Unmentionables Assemble by Kate-Kyrillion
Edit: on my Tumblr here ([link])

In adherence with my 'make something stupid and pointless every day' policy, it's the 'Avengers' poster. With Ankh-Morpork City Watch characters. Here's the original ([link])

Commander Sam Vimes is Ironhead (I was also considering Copperman or Stoneface).

Captain Carrot Ironfounderson is Captain Ankh-Morpork And Its Supporting Rural Environs.

Sergeant Detritus is The Incredible Splatter. It's like a Hulk, only splattier.

Sergeant Fred Colon is Wowhawk, expert marksman whose arrows seek out dragons' voonerables even - no especially - if it's a million-to-one shot.

Captain Angua Von Uberwold is Blonde Wolf. She spends a lot of her time pissed off, not least because somehow 'Blonde Wolf' fails mysteriously to sound as sexy and mysterious as 'Black Widow' or 'Scarlet Witch'.

Sergeant Cheery Littlebottom is (sorry) Phwoar.

They are brought together by the shadowy Havelock Vetinari, Agent of W.A.T.C.H. (probably) to protect the Disc from threats the like of which it has never - well, yet another cataclysmic threat, anyway.

Everything is mine, except the background elements which are stock. And the Tower of Art belongs to Jack Saxon ([link]).

ummm..... so correct me if I'm wrong....  But their superhero name seems to be, 'testicles'.
At least, that's what I always thought when Nobby kicked someone there.

OK, now that makes me laugh. xD

I totally thought that was dorfl at the top left.

So Nobby must be Agent Coulson, Stan Lee, or that random janitor that talked to Bruce Banner.
Kate-Kyrillion Featured By Owner Aug 5, 2013
Hard to see Nobby being cool and calm enough for the janitor - and if there's a role for a sweeper appearing to help out the hero just when he's at his lowest I think there's a Discworld character that better fits the type:)

Oh. OMG. I just can't. 'Phwoar', 'Incredible Splatter' I just ahhhh. Everything about it. So appropriate, just so spot on. It's beautiful in the most wonderfully derpy kind of way ever. Can't speak. Can barely type. Still having the time of my life.

:D Thanks!

You know, I'm probably not the first one to say this, but there should be THIS movie in the cinemas. With the same budget as The Avengers. Honestly.

oh man, I wanna watch this movie! For some reason Captain Ankh-Morpork And Its Supporting Rural Environs makes me especially happy, I can't stop laughing enough to type his name!

and now I can't shake the image of Sybil Ramkin as Pepper Potts =D
2138 Featured By Owner Aug 22, 2012
This . . . makes me ludicrously happy. I'm currently writing an Avengers/Discworld crossover fic, and I just randomly bumped into this while searching for Carrot and Angua pics, so it made my day. :D Thanks so much for the laugh!

Where does Nobby fit in, though? Given his love for big weapons, I'm seeing him as a terrifyingly spotty, small Coulson.
Kate-Kyrillion Featured By Owner Aug 23, 2012
Thank you!

Yes, someone else suggested Nobby for Coulson, and I thoroughly concur :)
BLEACH-Luv Featured By Owner Nov 6, 2012
But seeing as Vetinari=Nick Fury, wouldn't Drumknott=Coulson?

I lol'd hard, thanks for making my day. :D
starlightdraik Featured By Owner Jul 24, 2012
The comment directly below mine pretty much sums up all I can feel about this picture, and the stories that can come of it. Isn't that the fun part of the Discworld? Because of its nature it will never run out of stories as long as someone is there to transcribe them.
BenRG Featured By Owner Jul 17, 2012
Oddly inevitable, given the Discworld's infallible ability to "pick up" and then copy aspects of Roundworld's culture and mythology. Vetinari would, of course, be a manipulative bastard at a level that Nick Fury couldn't even imagine. :evillaugh:

I'm assuming that Sam's armour is something that Leonard of Quirm threw together on whim, adding to Vetinari that "there is no practical application, of course". Either that or it is one of the Devices that Adora-Belle Dearheart dug up in her endless quest for new Golems to save.

Brilliant idea that was nicely realised. Well done!
Kate-Kyrillion Featured By Owner Jul 19, 2012
Yep, either version makes sense! The Leonard of Quirm one appeals to me the most, I think that'll be my headcanon :)

Thanks for your comment!
JolanthusTrel Featured By Owner Jun 26, 2013
As long the armour is made by Leonard of Quirm and not 'Bloody Stupid' Johnson.
Kate-Kyrillion Featured By Owner Jul 2, 2013
Oh god, now I want there to be a book where Vimes has to rely on armour made by Johnson...

Ironhead- A copper who has recently become infected with a demonic force, and requires a suit of armor powered by his own moral strength to prevent his soul's destruction. He is reluctant in submission to anyone, and isn't afraid to admit it.
Captain Ankh-Morpork And Its Supporting Rural Environs- The heir to the throne of Ankh-Morpork, recently rescued from obscurity (and a 70-year magical sleep) by W.A.T.C.H., and now expected to save the world. The wizards have supplied him with a shield of octiron, the magical metal impervious to any and all attacks.
The Incredible Splatter- A troll with severe issues.
Wowhawk- An expert, although somewhat dimwitted, marksman. He is dense enough to think of himself as Ironhead's equal, is terrified of Vetinari, and thinks that just because he works with Blonde Wolf he stands a chance with her.
Blonde Wolf- A secret copper who has been working as part of a special W.A.T.C.H. task force based in Cable Street. She has occasionally been forced to work alongside Wowhawk, and is always somewhat annoyed at his presence. She has feelings to Captain Ankh-Morpork that she refuses to admit, and a nasty genetic surprise for anyone who thinks she's just a defenseless woman...
Phwoar- One of the few openly female dwarfs on Discworld, she possesses a magical axe passed down through generations of secret females. She may be short, but she's got wicked acceleration on the high jump. That axe doesn't fly back to her when she throws it; of course, that's because the axe is currently stuck in some poor fool's head.

You know, when I was watching the invasion scenes in The Avengers, I thought the Chitauri warships very much resembled star turtles. Maybe Wolfgang von Unberwald and Carcer have been resurrected and empowered by the Auditors, who also created the Dark Turtles? And the Tesseract would become the Octavo.
Also, Nobby Nobbs as some kind of pathetic sidekick to Wowhawk OR an incompetent JARVIS. Finally, Drumknott would take over as Phil Coulson.

Are you, are you, coming to the tree...

I believe in Jesus Christ as my Savior. If you do too and aren't scared to admit it, then copy and paste this in your signature.

Help! I've started laughing and I can't stop it!

But really, it's epic awesome. I wonder who Loki would be... Carcer, perchance? And perhaps Nobby can be Giant-Man/Ant-Man (not in films, in comics), even though he's technically tiny. Still, casting so far is just perfect - especially love Carrot as Captain Ankh-Morpork and its Supporting Rural Environs. Well done!
Kate-Kyrillion Featured By Owner May 28, 2012
I think maybe their first big villain would have to be Wolfgang and his pack. He's superpowered, has a Hitler-style superiority agenda, is cunning, and has a family connection to one of the team.

You could be right about Nobby, I still have't come up with nything else.

In other news: Sybil is Pepper Potts, Willikins is Jarvis and Drumknott is Maria Hill.
LikeAnEagle Featured By Owner May 30, 2012  Student General Artist
*stares at the last clause of the last sentence for a few seconds, then bursts out laughing*

It makes sense, of course, that Drumknott sits in Maria Hill's position. But it's still rather hilarious to see it put that way.

Wolfgang and his pack would make an excellent foe, although not very Loki-like for the purposes of mirroring the film. But Nobby - what about Nobby as Coulson? He hangs around and fires a Men at Arms-esque enormous weapon, at least...
Kate-Kyrillion Featured By Owner May 30, 2012
Yes! I think you've got it. Nobby is Coulson.

But that means... oh god, I'm sad now.
LikeAnEagle Featured By Owner May 31, 2012  Student General Artist
Psst. I heard that Coulson may actually be undergoing the... shall we say, Moist von Lipwig treatment. The director hinted that he might have superpowers of his own. Of course, Whedon is notorious for toying round with expectations, but if it's a million-to-one chance...
Kate-Kyrillion Featured By Owner May 31, 2012
...It might just work!

It might just, it might just. After all, the laws of Narrative Causality supports that sort of thing...
